1. The Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal is an ivory-white marble monument situated on the south bank of the Yamuna River, Agra, India. It was built in the memory of Shah Jahan’s wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Mainly to house her tomb in 1632-43, as Shah Jahan loved her deeply and she was known to be extremely beautiful. It is believed that the workers and architects who were involved in building it, got their hands chopped by Emperor Shah Jahan. This was to ensure the fact that no other monument like Taj Mahal was built ever again.

3. Tomb of Akbar the Great

It is situated at Sikandra, in the outskirts of Agra city, on the Mathura Highway (NH2), 8km away from the city center. About 1km away from Akbar’s Tomb, lies Mariam’s Tomb (Mariam-uz-Zamani), the wife of Akbar and other of Jahangir.

4. Jama Mosque

Jama Mosque also known as Jama Masjid was built in the 17th century and is a World Heritage Site of Fatehpur Sikri in Agra district, India. Emperor Shah Jahan built this mosque in 1648 and dedicated this to her loving daughter, Jahanara Begum.

5. Ram Bagh:

The Aram Bagh (also Ram Bagh) also known as the ‘Garden of Rest’, is the oldest Mughal Garden that can be found in India. It was built by the Emperor Babur in the 16thcentury and located 5km northeast to the Taj Mahal in Agra. Before being interred in Kabul, Babur was temporarily buried in the Aram Bagh. The garden has numerous water cascades and fountains. Ram Bagh demonstrates the profuse skill and talent of Nur Jahan (Jahangir’s wife) as a garden designer.
